Overclock, the main hardware is; Processor, memory and motherboard. Because these component will determine the limitation of overclock. For processor and motherboard, the limitation is the temp. High clock will increase. That will make the computer hang, or even failed to boot. But don’t worry about the temp. You can change the stock HSF the processor to other HSF which had better performance for reduce the temp.
Example :
The air cooling Scyhte infinity

Schyte Infinity offers awesome cooling performance and is a real alternative to watercooling. In the past when I was testing at a little high overclocks. I am convinced even first time users can do it. At this time Schyte Infinity was still the best air cooling who can make the cpu cooldown.

Overclocking had a negative effect. If the overclock not go stable, the computer will go hang, BSOD (Blue Screen On Display), can’t boot. But its just a little problem. You can clear CMOS and the CPU will boot again in default setting.
But how about the worst in overclocking?? Your cpu will overheat, and maybe will broke permanent because the temp too high.
In theory, overclock can decrease the age of prossesor. That was designed to remain approximately about 10 years. But in 10 years, are you sure didn’t want to replace the processor with the new one? are you sure at the time your processor could be still being used for the application in the future?
Technology changed very fast, and i was sure you will not use the processor in the next 10 years, and why didn’t try overclock then?
And decrease the age of processor just in theory for me, because the new processor has designed to control the temp of processor. If the temp exceed, it will be shutdown and goes to default setting. the other ways, you can find the better cooling for reduce your temp. Many cooling for this time, from the normal Heatsink Fan ( HSF ), Watercooling, until Liquid Nitrogen (for the extreem overclockers )

Overclock could make the computer speed faster, Moreover possibly exceeded the speed of computer with the price was more expensive.
Example:
Intel Core 2 Duo 6300 with price about $196

Overclock to :

Could exceed the speed of Intel Core 2 Duo 6400 with valuable range about $238.

You can save more money.

what is overclock?
Overclock that personally had definition that is overspeed the computer above standard speed that was determined. For example Intel Core 2 Duo 6300 with clockspeed 1.866 GHz was overspeed to clock 3 GHz.
Overclock indeed became special preoccupation for the extreme users of the computer. With the minimal system, the user tried to search, what part in system that still could be maximised, with the addition of the cost and the peripheral as minimal as possible.
